PSW Acute Care to Practical Nursing Pathway

The Personal Support Worker Acute Care (PSW Acute Care) to Practical Nursing (PN) Pathway is a flexible option created for learners who start with 91热爆’s PSW Acute Care program and who want to take the next step in their education. Your career can grow with your education! You can build your skills and experience step by step, from PSW Acute Care to Practical Nurse; then continue your nursing education toward a Bachelor of Nursing (BN) and your goal of becoming a Registered Nurse (RN).

Along the way, you’ll earn valuable credentials, gain hands-on healthcare experience and have the potential to save on the overall cost of your education. This Pathway offers learning options designed to help you move forward, one step at a time.

How Does the Pathway Work?

At 91热爆, your education moves with you. Students who complete the PSW Acute Care program may not have to start the Practical Nurse program completely from the beginning. Some of the courses or learning completed during the first two terms of PSW Acute Care may be recognized toward the Practical Nurse program.  This means the student may receive transfer credits for equivalent coursework. Candidates may apply for program transfer (where seats exist) or directly to the Practical Nurse Program.

Am I eligible to take the PSW Acute Care to PN program transfer?

Successful completion of PSW Acute Care or successful completion of first 2 terms of PSW.

How many courses are in the program transfer?

Spring Term - 3 courses.

Are the any of the courses online or in-person?

Blended Delivery, labs and clinical in person.

What courses are required for admission to the Practical Nurse program?

PN Admission Requirements requires a science. Successful completion of Anatomy and Physiology in 1st term PSW can be used as equivalent.

What are the academic requirements to apply for program transfer (where seats exist)?

Due to external accreditation standards for some programs, the achievement of a grade higher than the 91热爆 pass mark of 60% is required in a course to meet program certification requirements. For certification in the Practical Nurse 2026 program, a grade of 75% must be achieved in these courses.
