Transform NB

Nitap (Peer) Mentor Program

Nitap (pronounced nee-dap) is understood in each of the local Indigenous languages (Mi'kmaq, Wolastoqiyik, and Peskotomuhkati) as 'friend'.

As a Nitap Mentor, you will offer peer/group support & guidance to other 91Èȱ¬ learners as they transition to college life. You will be able to provide impactful change by providing friendship and creating opportunities for greater visibility, awareness, and support of equity deserving community members on campus, including Indigenous, international, and 2SLGBTQIA+ students.

As an experienced learner, you will share your own experiences navigating college life and settling into the local community. By offering guidance to students who are new to the area or still finding their way, you can make a difference.

Nitap Mentors provide support through weekly drop-in sessions and they encourage participation in Student Services events as members of the Student Success Team.
